We like to travel - and we try and do so as much as we can. As well as organising
some gastrotours (see events for our latest offer), we do try and get away to places
that are stimulatingly interesting, whether it be for scenery, monuments, culture
or adventure. Since we try to do this often, we tend to work out a "do it yourself"
programme.
This cuts down the costs of the middleman as much as possible and we pass this knowledge
on to you. So that you can shortcut the pain that we went through trying to organise
our trips!
Of course, at our advanced ages, we don't really want to "rough it", but on the other
hand, we see no sense in staying at luxury hotels. with prices to match, just for
the sake of a bed. Wherever we stay, we tend to get about and take in the local atmosphere.
So unless you want to spend all your days and nights in a luxury hotel, there's no
point in going over the top on this.
Suffice to say, the places we stay at need to be clean and comfortable, with reasonable
means of communication with the outside world, and the staff civilised. Of course,
food is important, too.
We taste the local, traditional fare and eschew the fast food outlets, whether they
be in Hong Kong, Ecuador or Austria. And believe us, they are there - one of the
most famous traditional coffee houses in Vienna is now a STARBUCKS - yuk! Even in
France, the tentacles of the "Mac Do" (as the French kids call it) are beginning
to strangle the lifeblood out of the very home of gastronomy.
We will post up our experiences as and when. In the meantime, click on a section
for some of our past experiences.
As one of us is half-Italian, and because we like the country, and have our second
home in Genoa, we go to Italy often. Read about at out trips to...
