Konrad Schlöer...
Konrad Schlör started his winery in 1984 and is one of a handful of producers in the area not selling his grapes to the local co-operative. With yields of not more than 50hl/ha for the whites and 40hl/ha for the reds, he is producing some of the best quality wines in the region. He has around 60% red grapes and 40% white (half of which is Müller-Thurgau) and it is for his reds that he is particularly noted, winning many prizes locally and nationally, but as yet has no international recognition. All fruit is hand picked with severe pruning done beforehand to control the yields. A mixture of French and German oak is used in maturation over a period of 12 to 18 months for the reds, with only new oak being used in his top cuvées.

Very much on the dry side but very fresh on the palate. Needs a little time to settle down. Good length. 84pts.
